From Indian Lakes is the American indie rock brainchild of California-based multi-instrumentalist Joey Vannucchi started in early 2009. Vannucchi writes, performs, and produces the music. The project has varied in sound through each release while remaining within the realm of Alternative/Experimental/Pop with hints of Dream Pop and Shoegaze. In interviews Vannucchi has sited influence from Mew, Radiohead, Feist, The Dodos, and many other thoughtful indie projects. As a touring act the group consists of Vannucchi (vocals, guitar, keyboards, drums), Justin Stanphill (guitar, vocals), Enrique Gutierrez (keyboards, samples, percussion, vocals), Tohm Ifergan (drums), and Chris Kellogg (Bass, Vocals). Vannucchi began songwriting in a small mountain community just outside Yosemite National Park and later enlisted the help of friends to perform his material. They had two independently released albums: The Man with Wooden Legs, in the late 2009, and Able Bodies in 2012. Their third album, Absent Sounds, was released on October 7, 2014 on Triple Crown Records and it entered the Billboard 200, reached number 8 on the Top Heatseekers chart, and hit number 36 on the Independent Albums chart.

Christian Loeffler

‘Mare’ is Christian Loeffler’s second studio album and follows in a similar vein to his self-released debut, ‘A Forest’. However a key difference is that while his first album was heavily sample-based, ‘Mare’ is much more organic, in which nearly every sound and every instrument is self-recorded. Many of the album’s ideas are based on field-recordings taken from the surroundings. On top of this, several microphones were set up in the room and left to run on for whole sessions. The microphones collected everything, from tapping, singing, playing, footsteps, as well as percussive elements.
